Against a good San Diego offense and with the score tied in the 4th
quarter, the Browns defense showed its stuff. Chargers had the ball on the one
yard line and first down and held them to a field goal. This was also done
against an improved Charger team with the leagues best new runner - Tomlinson
and the savvy QB Doug Flutie. The defense's goal line stand was the turning
point, as the Browns beat the previously unbeaten Chargers 20-16.
``That's what we're all about,'' safety Earl Little said. ``We want
to be a tough-nosed, smash-mouth type defense. That's what we're trying to
build as our identity.'' The new, improved Browns back up the talk with real,
tough, smash-mouth football. We are not going to take it anymore. The Browns
fans at the Garrett in Campbell (and all over this land) agree.
Browns Backers and fans are now matching the Browns intensity with
wonderful LOUD cheers again!
It is great fun to view a Browns game again - hope to see you all out at one of
the Browns Backers locations next Sunday morning!
Keep in touch - Go Browns (and Tribe) !
